CharacterMeasures - Know Your People
The key to success on the field of play, in the classroom or, in the workplace is preparation. It's no different when an athlete, student or, employee wants to succeed mentally.
Today, athletes, students and employees aren't just tested on the field, in the classroom or, at work. From junior high through college, we are all given exams, personality/character surveys, and a range of assessments. Each has the goal of providing some insight into the young man or woman.
Some will pass with flying colors. Sadly, some very talented people will fail. But, increasingly, how anyone performs on those assessments can contribute almost as much to their future success as their performance on the field or court, in the classroom or, in the workplace.
So it's not enough for athletes to prepare only their bodies for the next level; or for students to excel in their field study. They have to be prepared mentally, too. The best and most sought after athletes and students have resumes that allow recruiters, coaches, agents, and employers to size them up immediately. Gaining insight into the intelligence and character of students and players has become an important step in determining whether organizations want to associate with those people.
Year in and year out we see headlines about athletes whose actions negatively impact their teams and organizations. Whether it’s breaking the law or breaking the trust their coaches place in them, these players can, with one wrong move, dramatically undermine the hard work everyone else has put in.
Wouldn’t it be reassuring to be able to look deeper?
